HAA were appointed by a Pension Fund to redevelop this long narrow site located in the heart of Aylesbury. A small C19 two storey building was demolished to make way for a mixed use scheme comprising A1 retail units on the ground floor and self contained residential apartments on the 2nd and third upper floors over. The building had a complicated steel frame due to the curve in the plan form together with piled foundations and ground beams. Party Wall procedures were followed with Sainsburys next door and rigorous detailing and sound testing took place. Specialist fire advice was sought as the designs fell outside of the Approved Documents.
