The reordering of Alphington Church was started in 2013 by Jonathan’s late father Paul, with the construction of a two storey extension incorporating a new kitchen and WC facilities on the ground floor and a meeting room on the first floor. Internally a balcony level was inserted to provide additional seating and access to the new meeting room, all accessed via a new stair and lift.

The previously hidden west window has now been opened up allowing a clear view to be seen from the nave throughout the bell ringing chamber. The Victorian pews have been removed and replaced with individual chairs and the raised timber base has also been removed and replaced with level slate floor incorporating under floor heating  – all allowing for more flexible use.

To complete renovations a new lighting arrangement  has been installed as well as an audio visual system linked to a main screen and monitors throughout the church.

The building was reopened by the Bishop of Crediton to much applause.
