Katie has recently joined HAA as a Part 1 Architectural Assistant. This follows the completion of her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Architecture at Oxford Brookes University, where she graduated with First Class Honours. This Part 1 placement serves as preparation for her upcoming Master’s studies.
Throughout her academic journey, Katie has practiced creating bespoke and innovative designs that engage with projects in a thoughtful and immersive way. This design approach was refined during her time in Unit J, Translating Space, in her second year, and Unit C, Building Stories, in her third year. She focused on developing creative principles and techniques that allow her to communicate the atmosphere of a space seamlessly, ensuring that each design resonates with its context and users.
Katie also played an active role in the Degree Show in collaboration with her peers, and represented her tutor group in an external exhibition for RIBA members and the public. Her work was shortlisted for several awards, including The Design Engine Architects Prize, the RIBA Bronze Medal, and the Architects Journal Prize.
Architecture runs in Katie’s blood, as she is a ‘third generation’ architect. Her brother, parents, and both grandfathers are all architects, and her parents have built and restored homes across Buckinghamshire and Berkshire; she is about to make her 14th move to a new house, continuing the family tradition of creating and reimagining spaces.
Outside of architecture, Katie has a passion for art and cooking, and enjoys exploring new places and meeting new people.
