Cookham House
We started building a 3D model at the early concept design stages to test massing and orientation of the design in the actual site context in a Green Belt location, and to study impact on neighbouring properties and the best location for a swimming pool.
The model was placed virtually into the actual location with a Google Earth map underlay, to test sun path and potential for overheating of the large, glazed areas of the rear façade. This facilitated the design of windows and shutters, and roof overhangs to provide shading without compromising outlook over the glorious countryside setting. This was successfully used at planning stage to illustrate the negligible impact on the openness of the Green Belt.
During design development, material and colour options could easily be tried out to reach decisions on brickwork and the colour of window frames and metal roofing in conjunction with structural timber elements.
The model was internally fully developed with bespoke furniture including a full kitchen design, and different finishes to help our clients visualize the spaces as they developed.
